Construction companies have slowed growth after estimates from the start of the year were overturned by changes from the Government.

The volume of construction works, as a gross series, decreased by 2.7%, in the first seven months of the year, compared to the same period last year, on the background of the decline recorded in current maintenance and repair works and in new construction works. The data reflect a general slowdown in the construction market in Romania, especially in the residential building sector, although a steady increase in investment in engineering infrastructure is observed.
